Current COVID Guidance @ NASAM

COVID Guidance @ NASAM …

With the Government relaxation of the rules surrounding COVID restrictions, we now are able to open up more areas of the Museum and welcome more visitors on site.  We will continue to open on restricted days each week in order to be able to schedule our limited resources of Volunteers.  For the foreseeable future, these days are:

Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays each week

from 1000 until 1600.

We have decided to keep the one-way system in operation as this gives our vulnerable visitors a little protection.  Although not mandatory, we ask that fac coverings are worn if possible within the confined spaces of the enclosed buildings.

There will be other temporary restrictions throughout the summer as work continues in the Museum to improve various areas.  These restrictions will be made known when the visitors arrive at the Visitor Reception Point.

The restrictions on the number of visitors having been lifted and we will welcome all arrivals to the Museum.  Although no longer a legal requirement, we will continue to ask visitors for NHS Test and Trace details or to scan the QR code at the Museum Visitor Reception Point.

Visitors will be given leaflets similar to the one below.

General Guidance

In order to be responsible we will try to retain the least number of guidance restrictions for our visitors as follows:

  • We will open as many buildings as we can safely staff with our Volunteers.
  • We will maintain the one-way system in buildings with limited space.
  • We ask that face coverings are worn when possible in the confined spaces.
  • We will advise what is open and what is closed when visitors arrive.

Facilities available

  • The NAAFI café will be open for hot and cold drinks as well as snacks.
  • The shop will be open with aviation memorabilia, models, toys, snacks, ice creams and cold drinks.
  • Hands-on exhibits will be available if we have sufficient Volunteers onsite to manage these.

One Way System

The one way systems introduced during the pandemic to promote social distancing and to aid in movement around the various parts of the Museum have been proved to be useful and not too much of an imposition on our visitors.   We have decided therefore to retain these in some of the congested areas for the time being.

The Shop

The shop will be open with a range of items from “pocket money” items for the children and with aviation memorabilia, models, toys, snacks, ice creams and cold drinks.  We will maintain the screens at the counter to protect the volunteers manning the shop and the public using the shop.  Payment can be made by credit card and we have introduced a contactless donation point if you wish to give to the museum.
